Prior to the performance it was clear that attendees were ready to join in the showboating as they came dressed in traditional Indian outfits, such as Sarees and Kurtas, and a sea of rainbow colours soared through the theatre.
Akram Khan’s solo Kathak dance was mesmerising to watch and every step was in perfect sync of the vibrant Mridangam beats executed by Satish Kumar. This was interspersed with the melodious sounds of the Bansuri effortlessly played by Pravin Godkhindi.
The audience was left spellbound by the performances of these master artists.
The Darbar festival has certainly secured a permanent place in the London cultural landscape.
